JAAS successfully developed the techniques of duck raising on fermentation bed

 
After the success of raising pigs on fermentation bed, the scientists and technicians of the Institute of Animal Husbandry have succeeded again in transferring the same method to duck raising in Peixian County of North Jiangsu Province. So far, the project has aided to establish an experiment station of 6.7 hectares with 30 duck houses. More than 400,000 ducklings are raised each year, with a direct economic benefit of more than 1 million yuan. Compared to traditional duck raising methods, the method of fermentation bed saves energy and resources, protects the environment, reduces the cost, and increases duckling survival rate. Base on the estimation, the direct economic benefit for each duckling increases by 1 yuan with the new method.
