Technology Advance on Drying Taro Slices by Using a Combination of Hot Air and Microwave Vacuum

Drying is an important and widely-used method for food processing. However, it is probably the most energy-intensive procedure of the major industrial processes and accounts for up to 15% of all the energy usage during the production; and quality of dried food is another important issue during the food drying.

Feeding Utilization of Rice straw

The feeding utilization of rice straw could relieve the environment pollution caused by burning straw in China and could also provide ample roughage for ruminants while to solve the shortage of roughage in agricultural area.

Lab of Plant Food Safety and Quality

--Evaluation of Agro-chemicals to Secure Food Safety from Farm to Fork

This Lab is the core part of Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Food Quality and Safety-State Key Laboratory cultivation Base of MOST, Key Laboratory of Agric-product safety risk evaluation (Nanjing Lab, Ministry of Agriculture, China), Key Laboratory of Control Technology and Standard for Agro-product Safety and Quality (Ministry of Agriculture, China), Supervision and testing center for processed agro-product (Ministry of Agriculture, China), and Sino-American joined food safety research center (established with National Food safety and toxicology center, Michigan State University, USA, 2006).

Nitric oxide (NO) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) Play Different Roles in Plant Response to Selenium (Se) Stress—the New Mechanisms of Se-induced Phytotoxicity Revealed by Chen’s Lab in IFQS

The research group of Jian Chen has just found that two important gasotransmitters (NO and H2S) in plants played vital roles in regulating the adaption of Brassica rapa under Se stress.

Risk Evaluation and Integrated Management of Mycotoxin in Cereals

Mycotoxin Laboratory of Institute of Food Safety and Monitoring Technology in Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS) has been focusing on the natural occurrence, risk evaluation and management of wheat mycotoxins in Eastern China for decades.

Ca2+ is an important target of cinnamaldehyde (CA) in Phytophthora capsici―the novel role of CA in controlling plant pathogen revealed by Chen's Lab

The recent research from Chen’s Lab in IFQS has just revealed that cinnamaldehyde (CA) could be an novel “green” antifungal agent for controlling P. capsici efficiently.

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a real signaling molecule in plant---an emerging story discovered by Chen's Lab in IFQS

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is considered as the third gasotransmitter in medical biology after nitric oxide (NO) and carbon monoxide (CO). The detailed studies in the biological role of H2S in plants are very limited compared to those in mammals.
